Diagnostic Assessment

At Core, we offer comprehensive diagnostic assessments to meet your needs. Using a combination of empirically-validated psychological tools/measures and in-depth clinical interview, we can help you better understand your psychological profile. If requested, a report will be provided that includes a holistic, developmental approach to understanding any struggles you are currently experiencing. Recommendations for treatment will be included in such reports unless otherwise indicated.

In collaboration with the assessing psychologist, you can decide the purpose of the assessment and whether or not a report is necessary. In some instances, diagnostic assessment is useful for treatment planning to ensure that your specific needs are being targeted in the most effective manner. Otherwise, individuals often request diagnostic assessment in order to provide information to third parties, and upon consent, a report can be sent to such individuals (e.g., psychiatrist, workplace for long-term disability, insurance, etc.).

Depending on the nature of your needs, assessments and reports can typically be tailored with respect to focus and depth, to ensure that you receive the information required. Diagnostic assessments provided at Core can help answer the following questions:

  • Potential diagnoses (e.g., anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, etc.)

  • Link between diagnoses and current life struggles

  • Cognitive/intellectual strengths and weaknesses

  • Personality disorders

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Addictions

This list is not exhaustive, and if you have any questions about the nature of the diagnostic assessment required, please contact us for further discussion of your needs.
