Lori McGrimmon, MPsy, RP

If you’re feeling weighed down by anxiety, lack motivation due to depression, or are struggling to manage your emotions due to life events; it would be my honour to walk with you as you tackle the mental health challenges that are standing in the way of the life you want to live.  

 

Lori McGrimmon completed her Masters of Psychology degree from Adler Graduate Professional School and is currently a Registered Psychotherapist in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists. She plans to pursue registration as a Psychological Associate with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.  Ms. McGrimmon completed a Bachelor of Arts degree with honours from the University of Guelph with a major in psychology and a minor in child development.  In addition, Ms. McGrimmon has a Bachelor of Education degree from Brock University and spent 18 years teaching in an elementary school classroom.

 

Ms. McGrimmon works from a Cognitive Behavioural (CBT psychology) framework.  She also draws on the following evidence-based approaches: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).  In addition, Ms. McGrimmon uses a trauma-informed perspective to better understand her client’s experiences and draws on the theory and strategies of mindfulness to help support them. 

 

Ms. McGrimmon works with transitional aged youth (18 to 24 years of age), first responders, and adults. She has a particular interest in the following areas, including (but not limited to):

· Anxiety disorders

· Depression

· OCD

· Diagnostic and personality assessment

· PTSD and trauma

· Workplace stress

· Life transitions

· Relationship Challenges

· Fertility

 

Hours of availability:

Monday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Tuesday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Wednesday 11:00 am - 7:00 pm

Thursday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
